Just passing on some research on Haze statistics:

Thailand has the best stats in the region:
http://www.pcd.go.th/AirQuality/bangkok/default.cfm

Singapore comes in a big step behind but still second with daily average figures:
http://www.nea.gov.sg/psi/

Malaysia, contrary to rumour, does not produce PSI stats though occasionally they will report that air quality is "good" or "moderate" but won't provide specifics:
http://www.jas.sains.my/jas/Air+Data+Monitoring/Api.htm
http://www.vadscorner.com/internet63.html

Indonesia of course reports nothing.

For Haze news check out Asean Haze Online:

It's amazing to me that all these governments have pollution data that they are keeping from the public. I'm not sure what they think they are protecting... tourist revenue?

Anyway bottom line is that, from what little info is out there, this year's el Nino will ensure a long drought and a pretty bad haze season.
